What Is the Star Wars Font Called in Canva?

So Star Wars is like the best thing ever, right? Me personally I'm not really into it. I don't really remember but I don't think I've seen any of the movies and remakes they keep pushing once every three years.

It's interesting because it's not like I'm not into futuristic spaceship stuff and light years and stuff - I really loved 2001 for example, but Star Wars.. not my cup of tea.
It obviously is yours though so anyway, let's get to the point - you want to design something in Canva and add some text that looks like it was pulled out straight from a Star Wars film, and I'm here to help you with that:

Is there a Star Wars font in Canva?

No.
- Why not?
- Because that exact font is copyrighted and Canva didn't want to pay money to license it.

- So what now?

Well, it's funny you asked because the team behind Canva are what you would call "street smart" so they knew a lot of people would want a font that looks like Star Wars but at the same time they didn't want to actually pay for it.

So what did they do? Well, they added fonts that are similar to Star Wars but not identical (I mean that's what they usually do, but in this case you can't really argue that any of the fonts are ripping the original one because they're not - not even close).

But below I'll make a list with all the font names I found that look kind of similar and you can decide for yourself which one looks the most alike or which one you want to use in your futuristic design.

For reference here's how the original Star Wars Logo looks like:

And here are a few font variations I did in Canva:

  • The fonts used are:
    Livvic Bold
  • Archive
  • Cubao Wide
  • Garet Extra Bold

Now they definitely don't look identical to the Star Wars font but the average person probably won't notice or won't care about the difference.

How do I create a Star Wars looking text in Canva?

Just follow my step by step instruction video. It's unnecessarily long and I probably explain really bad but I have good intentions so don't be harsh on me. I'm very emotionally fragile.

And as I mentioned in the video, if you want something more closely looking to the original font and you are a PRO Canva user (because only PRO users are able to upload custom fonts) you can download this font called Star Jedi and after that upload it in Canva.

It looks like this:

To install a font simply select your layer, click on the font used from the top bar and right at the bottom of the bar you should see a button called "Upload a Font". And from then on it's pretty self explanatory.

The button looks like this:

That being said, congratulations! You are now the proud owner of a Star Wars looking font made all in Canva.

You should feel good about yourself.

20 years from now when you'll probably look back and think about your first time and the dopamine rush you had when you first managed to recreate the Star Wars font don't forget about me!
